United Colours of Islam – Discover the Diversity and Experience the Richness of Muslim Heritage…
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to attend our Annual Mosque Open Day at the Husaini Islamic Centre, Burton Street, Peterborough on Sunday 30th June 2013. The Open Day commences at 2pm and you are free to attend at your convenience anytime between 2pm-6pm.
The Open Day will provide you with an opportunity to experience various exhibitions related to the Islamic faith. The main feature of this Open Day will relate to two pivotal Eids (festivals) in the Islamic calendar which are celebrated after the Hajj (pilgrimage) and completion of the month of fasting (Ramadhan). Embark on a journey to see what makes it so special for Muslims to visit a simple cube structure built of stone by Prophet Abraham and his son and learn about the purpose and symbolism of the month of fasting and the true reason for celebration at the end of it.
A short presentation aired at regular intervals will depict not only our activities within the centre itself but also our contribution to the wider Peterborough community. Refreshments and snacks will be readily available and an exclusive ‘Ask a Scholar’ event, hosted by renowned scholars, will provide you with a unique opportunity to participate in an interactive quiz and to ask any ‘burning’ questions you may have regarding the Islamic faith.
Other various exciting displays and activities will also form part of the event, some of which are listed as follows:
- Kahwa (Arabic coffee) and traditional tea tasting experience
- Prayer demonstration
- Quran Exhibition
- Henna painting
- Islam celebrations and pilgrimage exhibition
Please accept this as a personal invite and share in the coming together of different faith and non faith groups in order to promote a more conducive, cohesive community.
